“What made you decide to get into photography?” I used to think it was an awkward question, mostly because I didn’t know how to answer it. The simplest response was “I didn’t decide, I just am one”. Now I know the question makes sense because there are a lot of photographers out there, and a lot of driving forces that make us who we are as people and artists. I do not have a fancy story; I was the poor kid who grew up in a household full of kids whose mom couldn’t afford to send to college much less, finance a hobby. We didn’t have a bunch of photos from our childhood; most of my siblings were never photographed as tiny babies. I always thought “how sad”, and when my siblings started having children of their own I vowed I would change that for the next generation.
Looking back 12 years later, I never dreamed it would come to this. I never thought I would be here, owning my own photography business and loving my job! I now know how to answer the question! I’m a photographer because I love people, life, and love. Because memories should never be lost, love is all we need, and today will be gone tomorrow. How will you remember?
