A Simple Love

62 years and going strong… At our wedding 2 years ago, they celebrated 60 years and in our card, encouraged us to match their 60. Lotta love for Grandpa and Grandma Shomsky. I hope you enjoy these photos and their story as much as I do! 🙂

Mary met Ray at the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) She was 21 and he was 20. “I didn’t tell him I was older, since our birthdays were in the same month, I let him think it was the same year. He said he didn’t want to date older women!”

I asked about their first date. “Well I wanted Ray to ask me to the CYO holiday dance, and he was taking a long time. Bill asked me to go, but I turned him down, I told him Ray had already asked and I was going with him. Ray finally asked me the day before or something like that, and I was really hoping that Bill and Ray didn’t talk to each other and find out that I had made that up!” 🙂

With 6 children, 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, the holidays are full of smiling people. 🙂

How did he propose? “Well, it’s hard to remember, but I think we were in the park. He said ‘I think I love you’ and I said ‘you think?’ and he replied ‘I know I love you’ and then I kissed him. And that was it. Then we got married!”

I want a simple love like that

Always giving, never askin’ back

When I’m in my final hour lookin’ back

I hope I had a simple love like that

When I was confident I had the session wrapped up, I told them they were done and she said “Oh can I have just one more hug?” And squeezed him….
